2009 Artists Abroad
In 2009, (no name) Art Group connected 2 of our artists with the non-profit Lifestart Foundation in Vietnam.
Founder Sherry Berger has had a close relationship with the organization since her travel to Vietnam in 2006. It was in Hoi An where she spent time volunteering and later initiated the Lifestart Foundation Workshop in 2007. The non-profit Lifestart Foundation Workshop focuses on creating unique handmade arts/crafts to help support those living in challenging situations in and around Hoi An, Vietnam. Each item is individually made by members of the workshop and the entire proceeds from the sale of the products go directly to the workshop members to provide a sustainable income and sense of independence. The first members of the workshop were the recipients of the 2008 Memory Portraits.
(no name) Artists have made a meaningful contribution by sharing in the goals of the workshop and teaching new and unique arts/crafts to members. Artists worked side-by-side with the locals to gain insight into the culture, discover new perspectives on the world and themselves, and develop memories that will last a lifetime.
